If you could get on a plane....

It's the time of year we'd normally be heading away for a long weekend to somewhere cheap and cheerful in Europe. (well, probably a week or two ago)

We normally aim for cities with a bit of craic (early 30's couple) such as Budapest, Lisbon, Barcelona, Bratislava, Berlin etc.

We actually joked that if we could get away in the morning, we'd be as happy to head to a typical 'resort' area just for a bit of sun (ie. somewhere tacky like Tormolenos etc.). Obviously Spain is out of the picture.

So, if you could hop on a plane in the morning, where would you head to for 3-4 nights? Keeping in mind COVID issues, some countries require quarantine etc. (I think Germany is one of those? I was reading up out of boredom yesterday)

I'll hopefully be heading to Japan when travel opens up again. I've been putting it off long enough and not being able to travel has made me realise how badly I want to go. Colorado is high on the list as well.

I made it to France, Germany and Russia earlier this year before the country shut down. I had to cancel a few trips over the summer so I am in credit with Ryanair and Wizz Air. I decided to keep the vouchers because it's a trip away or two half paid for when things open up again safely.

How long was the shelf life on your Ryanair vouchers? Were they end dated from the time you got the refund or from when your flights were cancelled?

I booked some flights with gift vouchers I got for Christmas and some with cash. The ones I booked with the pre Covid gift vouchers were restored and I have until 2025 to use them. With the vouchers I was given for the flights I paid cash for, 2 were dated from the time the flights were cancelled and 1 was from when I got the refund (Flight April 2020 - Refund Valid until August 2021). Don't don't know why the third refund was treated differently.

That's interesting. The gift vouchers that you got for Christmas must have been purchased after 2nd. December. Hence the 5 year year life span.

There appears to be no set system for when the refund airline vouchers should commence and end. Depends on the person who is issuing them it seems.
