Anyone able to confirm the bhp of a 2014 BMW 520d Luxury Touring please?

    It’s listed as 1995cc

    Am looking at 2 online - one a 141 and other a 142 but they have different tax rates - 141 is 280 and 142 is 270.

    Why are they different please?

What’s the bhp of the 141 Luxury Touring 520d auto please?

They got a different engines midway through 2014 which had slightly lower co2 and were more fuel efficient. The older N47 engine was 186bhp, whereas the newer B48 engine was listed as 190bhp. Check the rates on the motortax website by using the reg rather than relying on the information on the likes of carzone, etc.

Ah ok. Thought that the B47 came in 2014 but didn’t realise that some 2014s were still n47s.

Am I right in assuming these are same n47s that gave timing chain issues?

    B47 much better?

The B47 arrived in the second half of 2014 so there were plenty of N47 versions registered in 2014. B47 doesn't suffer from the same timing chain problems as the older N47 engine.

Some of the earliest facelift cars still used the N47 engine. You would have to check the tax disc and the chassis number to see which engine the car really has.

I would definitely get one with the newer B47 engine, though - as well as the slight increase in power and lack of issues with the timing chain as documented above, they're a bit quieter and more fuel efficient, too.

Excuse my ignorance but where do I check the chassis number please?

Or am I just looking for a 270 tax rate than 280?

    Thanks

The VIN will be located on the bottom left hand side of the windscreen.

Alternatively this is what the engine cover should look like for both.
