Dacia Dusters 2013/2014 - is rust a problem?

I was told that Dusters from 2013/14 were made in India and that they have a rust problem, then production switched to Romania and the rust issue was dealt with. I really like the shape of the car and those years are within my price range. Does anyone know if this is actually true and is it such a big problem? I spend quite a bit of time near the sea so that might be relevant. Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this for me.

I had a white duster from 2013/16 and didn’t have a spot of rust

The early Indian built ones were known for it, so much so they got the nick name Dacia "Ruster".

Aside from anything else, they’re very badly protected for stone chips etc in the wheelarch area, they don’t even have liners.

The later Romanian built ones were improved in that area too.

There certainly were plenty rusty early ones that got warranty work. Seems to be the white that’s worst affected for whatever reason.

Thanks for all your replies, I might give the Duster a miss after all.

    Just for clarity sake.

Rust can be easily spotted. So dismissing a car before someone looks it over makes no sense.

They're actually a decent vehicle. Parents had 3. I've driven them all . Improved with each generation.
