    Hi all,
My 15 year old polo is on its last legs and I'm looking for recommendations for what I should be looking for next. The polo never gave me much trouble over the years so I'm considering going for another but I will be buying this one second hand.
My budget is 16000 max, am I better off going for a golf in terms of reliability? Is there a max in terms of milage that you'd expect? I'm open to other reliable car makes either, I don't just want to stick with what I am used to if I can get a better car. I'm based in Dublin so hoping to get some recommendations for reliable dealers in the county. Thanks!

Is the polo the best type of car to get? Ideallyy I'd like to spend less than 160000 if possible, currently looking at a 131 yaris with 78000 on the clock but not sure if yaris will be reliable , I don't do a huge amount of driving , just an average 30 km per day to work and the odd long journey

    Yaris are massively reliable.

Would something like this be considered a safe buy?carzone.ie/used-cars/Toyota/YARIS-ICON-1.33-VVT-i-CALL-PETER-086-7792897/202009073424134

Yes, established seller, and the 1.33 engine is a great fit for the Yaris. Much better than the 1.0

    Points to note:
Car is a uk import, as with any car uk or otherwise - a history report should be done
there are 2 previous owners in Ireland and whatever uk owners there were too.
3 door model not as desirable to the masses as a 5 door, not that big a deal though
Icon is a good spec on them

Plenty of Prius's in your price range too OP, they have been around years now and are super reliable.
A lot more space and maybe better spec in them too.

my OH has a 97 starlet that has weathered the last 23 years unloved pretty well, not much to look at but the 1.3 has plenty of go in it, been fantastically reliable too with 220K+ miles on it.

Now looking at spending a bit less, what would thoughts on this car/dealer be? carzone.ie/used-cars/Hyundai/i20-STYLE-1.2L-PETROL-HATCHBACK-HERE-AT-MOONEYS/202010195180181

Nothing particularly wrong with it but that’s the old model i20 which feels quite old at this stage.
It’s still a ball of money so might as well get something nice.

Have a look at the Kia Rio. The newer model launched a few years before the i20

Unreal in snow and ice, had one the big freeze about 10 years ago, would go anywhere

I know the looks are marmite and it's very small outside.
But it's a brilliantly packed car with lots of space inside, good equipment levels and Suzuki have a good name for reliability.
    (and I love mine)

Quite few used ones in and around 10 k becoming available now
