Hi, I am enquiring if any one has had experience of having to use alternative treatment to Laser eye surgery as offered in clinics like Optilase. My daughter's current prescription for contact lenses is +10 and +9.50. Optilase have said they cannot perform standard laser treatment as the max they would treat would be around + 3 and would need to refer here on to a specialist. Would anyone have details around what the next options would be with a specialist , thanks

I had it done around a year ago at butterfly vision in Dublin 2 area. I know that you can arrange to speak with their consultant ophthalmic surgeon who is one of the top eye specialists in the country. They don't charge anything for a chat with him and he is definitely the man to tell you exactly what is possible. I just joined this forum and I'm not sure if i'm allowed post a link to their website so I'll do it in another reply but i'm sure you will find them on Google.

My sister had the lens implant procedure done in the matter private with Michael O Keefe about three years ago as she was not eligible for the laser surgery due to abnormally large pupils.
Was very successful and in some ways I think better than laser surgery.

I myself had laser done in the Matter too and thankfully it was also a success.
