Hi all hope all keeping safe in these strange times

I am going to install Hive multizone for someone they currently have a conventional HW Tank and 2 Heating Zones

There are 3 seperate Zones at the moment with 3 mini valves HW + 2 Heating

I presume I purchase a Hive Heating Like this

    https://www.screwfix.ie/p/hive-active-heating-hot-water-thermostat/5215j?_requestid=9355

That covers the first Heating Zone and HW and Hub

Then for Second Zone I add This

    https://www.screwfix.ie/p/hive-active-heating-multizone-thermostat/9625k

This one then pairs to same hub and Hive Account and controls second heating Zone

I presume all Zones appear on Same App etc

Thanks and if anyone knows where the Best Hive Deals are at the moment that would be great

    https://www.screwfix.ie/p/hive-active-heating-hot-water-smart-thermostat-white/550hg

You will need both items above

    in total:

    1x hub
    1x dual channel receiver
    1x single channel receiver
    2x wireless stat

Whens black Friday? too far to wait?

That's what the dual one is for, one heating zone and the hot water. Then the other, a single heating zone.

Yes but there seems to be 2 dual ones

Check my link it states for system with conventional hw tank and the other dual one states for system without tank
    https://www.screwfix.ie/p/hive-active-heating-hot-water-thermostat/5215j?_requestid=9355

And this one states without tank but both are dual channel

The above gives you control over one heating zone. It controls nothing else. So you would use that stat on you second heating zone. That kit also comes with the required hub. MORE INFO. The warning on this just means that it will not control the hotwater, not that it can't be used on a system that has a hot water zone.

The above will control a heating zone and your hotwater. You don't need a hub with this as you will have one included with the one linked at the top of this post.

    Hi,

I'll piggy back on this post rather than start a new one. I have the same stepup (3 zones, HW + 2 heating). My boiler is about 18 years old and its was cheap when installed, so its ready to pop any month. Therefore I am pricing around to get it replaced and asking them to install hive with the boiler. But the prices for the hive part I am getting I feel are very high. I'm priced with Swft at €1250 and that is with a special offer were they give me the Hive (worth €299) for free. I just don't get how they are charging that for an install. As from what I've read it doesn't require running wires ect.

So first question, if I got the hive installed separate, what would I expect to pay. I see Bord Gais are doing it what do they charge.

Secondly, can anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial for a 3 zone Irish system. I am fairly handy with DIY and have installed the other smart devices, so I would like to see what is required and if I can maybe do it myself. What I don't understand atm is:
+ Where is the wiring centre (I see these 10 ports on diagrams and few youtube vids)
+ What do I do with the teromstats that are currently installed.
+ Are the values that are installed with these teromstats ok to stay or do they need to be replaced?
+ Does the Cylinder Stat need to be replaced.
+ Mostly from what I've read, I understand how it works with 2 zone (Hw+ heating) , but I don't understand what happens with the values on the multizone

    Thanks in advance.
    Pete

There are differing offers from Bord Gais, give them a call (based on your gas/elec providers currently)

+ Where is the wiring centre (I see these 10 ports on diagrams and few youtube vids), could essentially be anywhere...would need to see your system
+ What do I do with the teromstats that are currently installed. bypass as no longer required, removing is best option and wire out back at the wiring centre
+ Are the values that are installed with these teromstats ok to stay or do they need to be replaced? values? valves? if you mean the mortised valves, they will need to stay
+ Does the Cylinder Stat need to be replaced. no, will stay as is
+ Mostly from what I've read, I understand how it works with 2 zone (Hw+ heating) , but I don't understand what happens with the values on the multizone

on your last point, I honestly get the impression that you will be over your head attempting this yourself, allow a Hive installer to come out an look after it for you.

    Thanks for the reply DGOBS.

Spoke with Swft and the reason they are charging so much is because they change all the motorized valves also.
I had a look at the system more and I think the reason I am not understanding the wiring centre or the 3rd zone, is because I think that this is my wiring centre is the picture attached. I think for anyone to go at that they need to be skilled. So yes I'll leave it alone.

I already have a sonoff switch to turn on/off the boiler. I think I might install one for the upstairs heating too, so that would be close to the hive. But I don't think the hive will be worth €1200.

Only problem is that if I ever decided to move I'd have to undo all this as no1 would understand my setup.
