Renault Megane clutch

Today, my 2010 Renault Megane II (150K kms) clutch packed it in.

Driving along and when the clutch wouldn't go in. It then went in and stayed in. You can pull it out and press it again, but it's quite stiff and it stays in.

The clutch no longer works and won't engage any gears now obviously.

The car hasn't been given any trouble at all and wasn't showing any signs of failure. The clutch hasn't been slipping either.

Does anyone know if there are common issues with this or what it could be from the above description?

Do you mean the clutch pedal? That it goes to the floor and then you can pull it back up with your toe?

The pedal is staying down? That's a sign of a faulty slave cylinder

    Yeah, I meant the pedal.

Other side of the country to dublin I'm afraid. I imagine it's one of those situations where it's a worthwhile exercise replacing the clutch as I'm at it?

Any ideas as to the repair cost for an indie garage?

    Thanks for the help.
