    Hi all,

So I have 2010 insignia with 120000 miles on the clock, while I was driving today and shifted from 4th gear to 5th car RPM's went up but the gear never went in if that makes any sense then I tried 6th gear and same rpm went up but when I accelerate only RPM's go up, then I went back to 4th gear and then tried again to go 5th and 6th no bother? I'm going to garage as soon as I can, but I have work tomorrow which is about 5km from my home, is it safe to drive? Tried googling the problem more likely clutch gone? Anyone with similar experience? Thanks for all the info.

It does sound like your clutch is slipping alright.

Some of them Insignias had a reputation for having a chocolate gearbox.
Is it pulling normally in all the other gears?

Ya was just driving to work car makes no noise or any unusual smell, someone was telling me that might smell some burn if clutch is going. Was shifting all the way from 1st to 6th gear with no problems. Obviously if it happend once it will happen again, I'll try to bring it to mechanic this week and see if it's really clutch. Anyone know these days approximate price with labor if its clutch?

If it is indeed the clutch then you should replace the flywheel at the same time as you will have the gearbox out anyway, so your probably looking at around 1k for both. If it's the notorious M32 gearbox then your talking about a bigger bill.
