Hi, when I open the boot lately, it’s making an annoying squeaky noise. Seems to coming from the boot strut on the right.

Any ideas how to make this go away?

Some silicone grease spray on them should stop it. I suppose they could also be on the way out if they are losing gas, the seals eventually go, not prohibitively expensive to replace and simple to do if that's the case.

Thanks - where would I spray it. See attached pic. Would I spray at point 1,2 or 3. Or just all of three points.

Point 2 on the bar itself.

Thanks. Final q. Do I spray it on a rag first and then rub rag on bar or just spray directly on to the bar?

Rag might be better to avoid overspray on to other parts of the boot, just make sure it's a lint free rag so that you are not leaving bits of fabric behind.

If you decide to go down the replacement route I picked up some here before, very reasonable, I find once car gets 10 years or so they can be on the way out depending on use.

Spray on the bar, let it soak down into it and then just move the boot up and down to lubricate the rest. No harm spraying a little on point 1 as well. Do the other side as well.

A D beat me to it, I spray on the bar but use something to stop over spray.
