1.5 Diesel ford focus. Looking at one of these ex UK import. Approx €9,000. Milage around 90K miles. Any opinions on these before I purchase. Car appears to drive good and overall in very good condition. Only concern is it has not been taxed or NCT since Jan 2020.

Have you done a history check?

Has it had many owners in Ireland
Any explanation given for NCT and tax beyond covid?

Mileage is on the high side for a four year old vehicle so make sure documented proof of service history is present. Generally speaking they are very good cars indeed probably the best to drive in that particular category. The 1.5 diesel engine is a significant improvement on the old 1.6 it replaced. Reliable cars, no known issues with them.

Have you considered 1.5dci (Renault Fluence) over that 1.5TDCi
