What is the legalities of claiming turbary rights of a bog that I've been cutting for over 5 years. The owner of this bog gave me a verbal agreement in 2015 that I can cut away at his bog as he's no internet in it because he lives in Dublin however I have lost contact with him a d he's fell out with his family. They too know I cut this bog and never have any intention of cutting it themselves or don't even want anything to do with it either.

    Turbary rights can be complicated
Most were allocated by the Land Commission in the course of dividing estates under the Land Purchase Acts. Despite subdivisions of the land they remain attached to the original dwellinghouse. There are conditions about their use.]

I'm no expert but I'd imagine you have no chance of claiming rights over someone else's land that you have no association with.
