    Hello.

I have recently purchased a VW Passat GTE 2016. The dealer has said that the engine runs on timing chain and not belt but with my own investigation I could find that the engine is indeed a belt driven engine.

Anyone on here with a GTE could advise please?

Pretty sure it has a timing belt.

I think they reverted back a belt on those TSI engines by the time the B8 Passat was launched in 2015.

Stealers love to charge on GTE's as they say they have to discharge battery and work is more complex which I call bullsh1t. Have you got a quote from them?

DSG service is 299. Engine service is 189. Belt service is 549 I think.
