Buying Used VW Golf

    Hi all,

I'd appreciate a bit of advice on the below 2 cars as I'm not the most car savvy!

I'm looking into buying a used VW Golf or similar and was looking at the below 2 options - both Highlines. I would prefer a petrol as I won't be doing major mileage and an automatic if possible, but this isn't a necessity.

Firstly, do you think these represent good deals for the prices advertised? And if so, which is the better looking option?

The first is an automatic from a private dealer, while the second is a manual from a main VW dealer. The second has had 5 previous owners though - is this something I should be weary of for a 2014 car?

Any advice would be great! Thanks

I know VW Golfs hold their values well and always have done but if that is the price (in around 15k) of a 6 year old very soon to be 7 year old 1.2 litre Golf I would be shocked. Thats not just A3 money but easily A4 / 3 series money right there and not far off A6 / 5 series money for a 2014.
Fair play to the golf for holding its value but seems mighty expensive to me for what you get.

Your always going to pay a premium for petrol automatics in the smaller car segment because of how rare they are here.

There are a few automatic petrol Golfs you should look at on Donedeal, almost all of them are Japenese Imports tho so you’d need to check with your insurance first.

You should consider 2013 as well, they are the same as 2014 and you’ll still get a three digit plate (if that means anything to you)

That’s nuts for such an old car.
Even a high line was only €27k new back in 2014.
