    Hi all,
just wondering if anyone has any helpful input, my 1.4 petrol, 2003 VW Golf failed on a single thing last week, Exhaust Emission's - low idle, so i took it to the garage, he found couple of "pin holes" in the exhaust and fixed them but hes not really sure if it will resolve the issue.

    NCT readings:
    Low idle - CO 0.67 vol% - Above 0.30% - FAIL/MAJOR
    - HC 231 ppm - Above 0 ppm - N/A

    High Idle - Lambda: 1.02 - PASS

    - CO 0.04 vol% - Above 0.20% - PASS

after 10 years of driving her she certainly owes me nothing but still don't want to scrap a car that seems to be very close to passing so advice on next steps would be very much appreciated.

Dipetane , can get it even in petrol stations.
Put a generous amount in a day before retest and try have the engine hot when you arrive at the test centre... A spirited drive also helps
Might be a few youtube videos that describes it

Firstly, it isn't close to passing, the emissions are more than double what's allowed, the 230 ppm would be my biggest worry. Is it burning oil? When was it last serviced?
