Hi guys, I was wondering what are the VRT exemption requirements that I must meet. I know on the UK end i must have the car for min 6 months and provide proof of insurance. Does that cover me on the UK end? Also, what about on the Irish side? If the exemption takes place within weeks of moving the vehicle over then how can you prove you have the vehicle and yourself in ireland for that 6 moth term? I've read they can ask proof of employment in ireland but what if you haven't found any just yet or taking a break from work. Thanks for any advice

Looking to VRT myself at the min - car & me from UK. I read if you inherit the car, given as a 'gift' in the exchange of V5C form, then you get exemption. There were a couple of other things that qualify for exemption - being diplomatic exemption etc.
