Trying to sort out the garage and have various tools lying all over the place. What do you use to keep everything organised so that you know where stuff is when it's needed? Any good tool boxes or storage options you'd recommend? Ive also got quite a few things to maintain the garden and it's hard to know how to store them so they're not lying all over the floor

I finally bought and hung pegboard, which is great for the screwdrivers and a few other bits and bobs. Got it from ajproducts.ie, quick delivery.

Also have a few Omars from IKEA, some for wine and food and others for power tools. The garage is a great temperature for storing wine...

Behind the work bench I have a sheet of mdf the length of the bench that has lenght of magnetic strips on it for all the hand tools, hooks for the power tools, drawers for all the tools in cases. In the shed with the garden equipment I bought a load of terry clips for shovels, rakes etc and hooks for strimmers, hedge cutter etc. I like having everything to hand

My shed has 8x4 ply with long screws and hooks and clamps around the bench all marked by black marker around the shape of what lives there and a length of 3ft high ply for smaller tools over the bench marked again for what lives there. Anything too big like big chop saws has a place on a shelf or under the bench. I use ratchet straps to hang stuff from the roof supports along the sides not ply lined, for bicycles and heavier stuff.

Don't expect anything from life, just be grateful to be alive.

I have a combination of shelves, tool drawers, and homemade brackets/hooks etc. On the wall. Some of them, like for the screwdrivers, took a bit of planning, some of them are as simple as a screw or a hook to hang stuff on.

Things like clamps are easily kept together and sorted by screwing something like a piece of 2x2 to the wall, and clamping them in size order.

Smaller stuff, and awkward sizes etc usually go I the drawers

One wall I've got these homemade drawers

On the other wall I've got a french cleat. Here's the first half

    529723.jpg

Here's the second half with some homemade storage boxes and some organisers I picked up from Lidl. (no idea why it came out sideways and can't be bothered to fix it)

Have these high level shelves on three walls with Ikea crates full of junk cause I have hoarding issues.

Made good use of the roof space with a motorised pulley system. Just bean bags up there that come down for UFC night.

This one as well. Shallow presses with magnetic strips that double as a whiteboard when they're closed.

do you have a wheel barrow needing a storage space?
i bought one of these for my small wooden garden shed there ideal,
allows the barrow to fit up inside the Apex of the roof in my 14ft by 8ft shed.

    Link: https://www.thegardenshop.ie/wheelbarrow-storage-bracket/

also i recommend looking up some 5s training videos on youtube to best assist you in the organizational layout.
    shadow boards are great too,

paint a large Ply wood sheet citrus green, then fit nails for hanging equipment,
mask the entire sheet with masking tape then cut around the outline of each tool hanging on the board,
remove excess masking tape, and paint the entire sheet black,
finally remove the masking tape from the tool outline and there you have an illuminated shadow board for frequently used tools.

It would be hard to beat jeepers set up, very impressive. I'm remote from it now, so no pictures, (and I'd be embarrassed anyway as it's an absolute mess at the moment) but here's my set up:

All long handled gardening and building tools are stored in a corner, sitting in a plastic fish crate, which keeps any muck or dirt contained within. Simple timber racks store secateurs, garden rowels, forks, pruning saws etc. Other building (masonry/ plastering tools) are stored in square buckets (ex industrial roofing and cladding screw buckets), square buckets take up less room on my limited shelf space. For general hand tools I use Halfords Industrial tool cabinets- I got a great deal on a cabinet bundle years ago. They are great for organising tools the only downside is the drawers are a little shallow for some stuff. I have an old steel office cabinet which I've shelved out in plywood, with dividers and tailored compartments for power tools, blades and their adjustment tools. After that I've made lots of storage racks and shelves in wood for screwdrivers, chisels etc plus some heavier racks for clamp storage. I have some old timber tool boxes and tool chests which belonged to my great grandfather which are used to store older vintage stuff that doesn't get used too often. Of course the most important storage option is- any clear, flat and level surface which soon fills up with any amount of junk when I'm in the middle of some project or other!

Projector also by the looks of it, serious set up. What are the dimensions of Aladdin's Cave

Some fantastic setups there lads; I really like the shallow cabinet with folding doors, that's a great space saver

Boards best practices tip: when quoting posts with lots of picture; take out the IMG tags before you submit, so that you're not duplicating the pictures back in with your reply :)

24.96 sqm to be exact. 3.9m high. Any more and I’d need planning.

Apologies for robbing the thread but some shed nerds here and looking for inspiration.

Garage is story and a half, 8m x 5m with a rolling door at one of the short ends.

Need space for the stairs, decent work bench, room for four bikes etc. upstairs will be a gym for the most part.

Any recommendations, design ideas, photos, what not to do?

thinking the bench along the 5m end with French cleats above it. Maybe shelves down the 8m end?

no idea where the stairs would be?
