Vaccinating cows

Hi all,
I got my winter dosing and vaccinating program from my vet. He recommends that I vaccinate all cows for pneumonia with bovalto. We would routinely vaccinate calves but never vaccinate cows for pneumonia as we never had this problem. What do people think? It adds a lot of cost

Is that an IBR vaccine?
We would have done the whole herd for Ibr

No we always do cows and calves for IBR but this is a specific pneumonia vaccination

Bovalto seems to be a range of vaccines by Boehringer Ingelheim, there's at least two.
Bovalto Respi 3 covers :
- parainfluenza 3 virus, to reduce virus excretion due to infection
- bovine respiratory syncytial virus, to reduce virus excretion due to infection
- Mannheimia haemolytica serotype A1, to reduce clinical signs and lung lesions.

So, basically the same as Bovipast RSP.

There's a Bovalt Respi 4 also that adds BVD.

Bovalto Respi Intranasal:
For the active immunisation of calves from the age of 10days against bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) and bovine parainfluenza 3 virus (PI3V), to reduce the quality and duration of nasal excretion of both viruses.

So, basically the same as Rispoval Intranasal RS+PI3.
