Hi,

I have some old ploughs and other machinery which I am thinking of getting rid of for scrap. Anybody have any suggestions of a place that would collect...as it is very heavy. Thanks

How old? You might be supprised what you can get for ol vintage machinery

You'll get takers for horse drawn and older tractor drawn machinery.
A lot of the stuff was pushed into holes in the ground or gathered up by the GAA.

Scrap iron and steel isn't worth a fortune these days esp when the economy is on the floor.

Wait for a nice sunny day, take some pictures and out them up on donedeal.

I'm unsure of the age of the stuff but it's been there for at least 40 years and then how old before that who knows. Any idea of where I may find a buyer?

You will get people looking for that at a rate a lot better than purely scrap value but price is too high on ad. Needs to be more realistic.

I would think so too but it's just to get the interested person seeing it!

What would you say would be a more realistic price if you were to hazard a guess?

They are pretty common brands, Star, Pierce so they would have been thousands of them made on farms all over the country, so would think 80-200 max, broken or missing parts taken into account. Ploughs about the same, all would look good in someone's garden with a lick of paint. Some people find practical use for them these days too, the pulpers at any rate.

Scrap man would probably give you 50 for the lot and sell them himself afterwards!

That's way too much money for those.

I'd say the turnip pulpers are 200e top and work down for the rest.
