to be used in the 1.20 Ascot only.
Says applies to existing and new customers but would imagine depends on your account.
Will cost them bugger all as Stradivarius should win easy enough, currently evens but free is free.
I'd be doing a straight forecast, Stradivarius to win and Fujaira Prince to be 2nd.

They took out national newspaper ads were offering a free 5 euro bet on United v Spurs a couple of weeks ago to new and existing customers. I logged in to put the fiver on Spurs but when I went to claim it said I wasnt eligible. Whats that about with them, do they only give it to accounts that lose more than they win or something?

I'd say they only give them out to accounts that aren't restricted in some form or what they would consider a winning account for them or one they can make money off.
A lot of bookies have accounts that are heavily restricted and they only allow those punters to place minimal stakes so they can see what they are betting on and adjust their odds with small liabilities.

I dont bet but like a freebie. I though these offers required you to place the proceeds of a winning free bet into another bet? If this is the case I'm out. I cant for the life of me understand why people waste their money with these bookies.

A freebie would have been nice but I'm not eligible for it.

Dont expect any freebies from bookmakers.

That's not the case with paddy power free bets. I believe they're just worth 50% of their value. You bet €5 and it's as if you bet €2.50.

The way it works is that if you win you don't get back the original fiver (as that was never yours to begin with). As soon as the bet is made that €5 disappears and you're only left with your potential net winnings.

So if you back a winner @ Evens then you will end up with a gain of €5 from before you applied for the free bet. If you back a winner @ 2/1 you will end up with a gain of €10 etc.

Most bookmakers offers nowadays are "free bets, stake not refundable".
Nobody will give you the stake back for a free bet as the stake has never been placed.
I've been told it's around 65% of free bets get paid back out in cash so bookmakers are making around 35% extra to when they used to give cash back on their offers.

1.20 Ascot was won by 11/1 shot Trueshan (5th in betting) so payout would have been miniscule and a few of those winners will invest their winnings back on something else.

One thing is for sure, what little offers we get from bookies here is nowhere near as good as what UK punters get, they often give things like a free £20 bet just to open an account

These thing should be banned. Trying to get people in and hooked.

Bet365 had the best account opening offer for years, €200 on signing up which you had to roll over once.
It was easy money signing friends up, hedging the free bets on a Saturday with their BP guarantee on the HR and then cashing out for a no risk €100 each.
Unfortunately this has now changed to €100 "free bet credits" which is a big difference.
Guess with so many customers signed up, they didn't need to be as generous.
There are so many t&c's attached to account opening offers nowadays, most of them aren't worth doing.
The rollover terms are a joke nearly as bad as casino account opening offers.

Another free €5 bet for "eligible" PP customers.
To be used for Liverpool v West Ham match, tomorrow Saturday 5.30pm.

Spotted that last night. Stuck it on the draw @ 4/1 just to try and get some value (would only gain €1.67 for a Liverpool win)

I've been restricted with them for the last 5 years or so. So I never touch my account but still I've been getting these free fivers

Free €5 bet for Man City v Liverpool Sunday 4.30pm.
    Usual t&c's apply!

Hmm, I don't seem to have this one.

I wonder is it because I have placed my entire bankroll on PP on Biden and so my available cash is €0 until that market is decided?

Which means it is much better value to bet a long priced horse than a short priced horse (assuming both reasonably fair odds).

Absolutely. You're free-rolling either way so may as well take a punt.

Which is why most free bets placed, end up as losing bets.
I've told by someone who knows, between 65-70% of free bets are losers.
You have to back something at bigger than evens to make any money out of it and the bigger the odds, the less chance there is of it happening.

Sure. It's just impossible to get excited about eking out €1.67 which is what one would have gotten for Liverpool winning the last time.

For those who are eligible, there's a free €5 bet for use on American Football match tomorrow Tampa Bay v Green Bay.
You have to use it on bet builder which "allows you to combine two or more selections from the same game into one bet".
