Best Stock Android Non-Pixel Phone?

My Dad needs a new phone. He had issues with his old phone not having the most recent Android version.

He is therefore amendment that he wants a stock android phone.

He had issues getting the Pixel 3A (out of stock) and Pixel 4A is slightly over budget for him.

Hence, what stock Android phone would people recommend? and where would you suggest it is ordered from?

Stock android ≠ fast updates and skinned android ≠ slow updates. Several Xiaomi and Oneplus phones, for example, were on the Android 11 beta program. And many phones on the cheaper side, while typically close to stock android, don't often get updates after more than a year or two.

Sony seems to be the closest non Pixel to stock. The Xperia 5ii has just been released but its way above the Pixel 4a in pricing. Their closest phone is the Xperia 10ii which is available directly from Vodafone for €300
