I don’t know about you but I pronounce it like communism, those other words don’t even rhyme.

    eh, what?

It's confounding nature and inability to conform certainly constitutes a confusing conundrum in communicative colloquialism.

As in, why don't we pronounce it like COMMUNE-ISM.

It could be a reason to hold yet another protest ??

Personally I believe it was a ploy by Regan and other anti-soviets and marxists, to take the community out of the name. Everyone loves community but nobody loves communism.

That is how it's pronounced though?

I've spent the last few minutes trying to pronounce your user name.

It's possible I will now be sacked from my job.

    Thanks a lot.

There's a subtle difference. The way we are used to hearing the Comm pronounced like CAWM. At least I am. And then I thought, maybe it's actually a deliberate way of detaching it from the idea of community. Wonder would Noam Chomsky agree with me.

    Just my afternoon musings.

Are you from the US by any chance because that communism with a W sounds a bit like the way some people there say it but never heard "we" as in the the Irish say it that way.
Unless it's something from up around Ross O'Carroll-Kelly's way that I don't know about

I think what the OP is trying to say is whether you put the stress on the M or the U.

    COMMM-UNISM

    versus

    COM-UUUUUN-ISM

I'd say not using the second one isn't down to some kind of capitalist pig conspiracy and is more because it's not as easy to say.

It would be very communist of us in fairness if we couldn't even get past the argument on how to pronounce communism

    ehh, we do.

I don't know anybody who pronounces it any other way.

    Do you mean like COMMON-ISM?

Maybe a few retards like George W Bush with his nukular crap do but they're exceptions.

Would that be akin to some tit trying to re-pronounce aluminium as ah-LOOO-min-um?

    Com - U - nism

I have never heard anyone pronounce it Commun - ism (as in communion) but then again its not a word that's used very often in general conversation.
