Superb MK3 opinions?

    Hi folks.

Any thoughts on the MK3 Superb in general? Thinking about importing one before Brexit, looking at a L&K 190hp. I was asking an acquaintance who had a 2017 one who is very anal about things and he didn't recommend it as it's not screwed together very good.

    Any opinions on them?

    Cheers..

Came close to buying a Superb about 2 years ago. Fantastically roomy car. Reasonably well bolted together in my brief experiences but I guess actual owners will have better feedback in that department. I drove 1.4 TSI and 2.0 TDI 150ps versions. Both were fine in terms of power so 190 version should be very good. I found ride/handling was good on smoother/regular surfaces but it was not so great at sudden elevation changes like you might get on more secondary roads so not a car for pushing on with on such roads - a little bit overreactive. Perfect for motorway style cruising though. A handsome car, super practical but I found the cabin/dash/dials maybe just a bit too bland/square but that's personal taste. Room in the back seat is something else though - trounces everything else in the same class.

Friend in work has a 17 as a company car and its doing well with almost 200k kms on it already. Nice looking car but if you go looking some of the materials are not up to premium standard which some people will tell you the skoda is. Great value for the money but it's pretty uninspiring. Its up for change soon and I can't see him wanting another. The back seat is its unique selling point but unless you carry very tall adults regularly that's not needed.

I have a 2017 190ps DSG for the past 4 months and am pretty happy with it. Very smooth driving car with the DSG box and plenty of power when needed. I’m averaging 47mpg with mixed driving. The cabin is a bit understated but I like that, everything fairly ergonomic, the quality of materials is probably not as good as Audi or BMW but the superb is a class bellow so if that doesn’t bother you it’s no biggie. The suspension in them is fairly soft, mines the Sportline so is slightly lower, not sure how the L&K will feel. The few things I don’t like, the stop/start system is a pain in the ass with the DSG box and there is an intermittent rattle from the drivers door. I was torn between the sportline an L&K, went with the sportline because I prefer the styling but would also like all the extra toy that come with the L&K.

You can disable the stop-start easy enough with the like of OBDEleven
    First thing I did.

Pascal might put an end to importing anything diesel in tomorrow's budget.

OBDEleven is on my Santy list!

OP, everyone says that the Passat is better built but the Superb is still a well put together car, your not going to sit in one and think it’s cheap.

Another thing, the OEM Pirelli tyres are supposedly pretty bad for road noise, people report big improvements when they replace them.

We have two in the family, both 1.4tsi, one DSG. Very hard car to find a fault with, they do so much so well. Spacious, comfortable, cheap to run, well equipped, etc, etc.

Before mine I owned a 2011 Passat and 2014 5 series, haven't missed the BMW for a day. Not as rattle free as the BMW but on par with the Passat. The front suspension is prone to the odd groan and creak as well. There was also an issue with early cars, an in dash buzz that was a aircon pipe, most should have been sorted by now.

Go and drive a 2 year old model and see what you think.

I have a 2017 1.4tsi and it's solid as a rock for the last 3 years, balloon payment due next month and I'm definitely keeping it
