16 A6, the parking brake warning comes on from time to time, anyone any suggestions? Just turn off the car the the issue doesn't occur again.
Means the automatic brake doesn't work for the duration of the drive

Probably needs a switch. The switches do give trouble and will give a warning on the dash. That being said, it could be anything but the rest of the system on those is usually fairly reliable.

    Thanks all

I get that too, I have a 2014 A6. I get an intermittent message saying parking brake problem and accompanied by stop/start error. Happening since shortly after I bought the car 2 years ago. Would be fine next time I start up. Happens maybe once a week.

At last service there were no error codes worth bothering about according to my mechanic.

In my 2 years of ownership it's the only warning light I've seen so I'm happy to just leave it.
    I've 90k kms on mine.

Thanks for the info. When you say a switch, could you be more specific if I need to explain it to my indy

Your mechanic should be explaining it to you, otherwise you are doing it wrong :)

The switch in the centre console that you use to manually control the parking brake.

Surprised no error codes came up as if light is flashing on dash, its detected something.
Handbrake switches never last long and maybe different diagnostic machine might pull up a fault code.

Dunno about that. My 2010 A6 has seen almost 200k km with me (407k total) and never had any bother with the switch. Did have a calliper fail at one point though (or maybe that was the previous A6 :p)

    I've probably jinxed it now!

German electronics at its best NOT as lost count how many cars we had replaced them on.

Had this on same model, used to happen a couple of times a month, mentioned it to Dealer and they replaced the battery under warranty.

Why did they replace the battery?

As explained to me, voltage drop in battery was causing the error message. Once replaced problem was resolved - error message never returned.

Was your car a stop/start model?

hence why battery was logged as low,Stop start might also need diagnostics run to say new battery fitted.

Main dealer tested battery voltage and noted that it wasn't at required strength.
Have had a lot of cars with start stop and never had a battery issue. Start / stop requires a different battery than standard.

Warning light came on, local indy read the error

-Right Parking Brake Motor voltage supply-

Could be a load of things, switch, wiring, EPB module or anything else.
Another lad recommended to start with the back brake caliper

    Suggestions?

No harm to give the block connector on handbrake some contact cleaner spray as i have have found German cars and block connectors have issues.

Forgot to mention those dash switches are very common for issues and would replace that first.

Main dealers usually get slated for throwing parts at cars but it sounds like this fella hasn't a breeze and just wants to throw parts at it.

I'd get an opinion from someone more competent.

To be clear, no one has recommended anything specific yet. This is my mixed research of all the possible fixes to this issue out there

Did you not say a local mechanic looked at it?

They read the error with the SW he had, said it could be a number of things but they couldn't/didn't narrow down the root cause based on that reading. To be fair I didn't press the issue and they recommended Audi to take a proper look

I'm not dissing the local lads, I'm looking for some solid leads where to start
