Bmw hybrid warranty (530e/ X5 40e)

I'm looking at a 2017 530e or X5 40e and for peace of mind decided to check out getting a warranty.
On www.bmw-warranty.ie I'm getting that neither are covered:
Unfortunately we are unable to offer a product for this vehicle

Has anyone got a warranty on either car?

Also interested in owners experience of both. Wondering is the extra price for a X5 worth it and what are the must have specs. (HUD, reverse camera, power bootlid, etc.)

That usually happens when the original warranty has expired and it wasn't extended prior to it expiring. You need to ring them for a quote.

Cheers bazz, would you know if it has to be added with x months of the original expiring?

I don't know but once there is a gap between warranties it tends to increase the price because they have no warranty history of the car since the last warranty expired. They will also only cover cars up to a certain age and/or mileage. It's very similar to an insurance policy really.

I have a bmw warranty on my 2013 car so I’d say 2017 is ok... maybe there is a mileage limit but I’m 70k km....
They’re a no brainer on an expensive car imo... need to keep it main dealer serviced though but I suppose that helps hold value for selling it on so not totally wasted money....

You shouldn’t need to use the main dealer to keep the warranty.
It’s against EU law of some sort.

Based on my experience with BMW, in order to maintain the extended warranty it has to be taken out prior to the factory warrant expiring.

To give you an idea on price, one of our 520d’s has less than 30k km on it. It’s a 132 bought new from M&G. BMW wanted nearly €1k for the extended warranty per year.

You might be right on the main dealer bit but I won't argue it at the mo...
Funny the cost of the warranty on the 520d, my warranty on the 13 reg M5 is about €1k and is engine, drivetrain, electrics with a €135 excess!

It may be when it comes to a statutory Manufacturers warranty, but a used car warranty is effectively a fancy insurance product, and insurance can have all sorts of terms and conditions attached.

Its worth looking at Carprotect for warranty, As a whole my experiences have been pretty positive.

Prob that price due to the engine that’s fitted to the car. They know if it hasn’t being done yet that they will have to cover the cost of the timing and egr coolers.
They have to make there money somehow.
