    hi all,

I've spent a fair bit of time and money cleaning up the back garden and putting in drainage.

Now that I have it sorted I've decided its a bit colourless - bar green.

Do folks here have any pointers as to what I can plant in the large bed to the right in this photo ?
It's north facing garden and this area does get some sun later in the day.

There is also the large bed under the trees which doesnt get much sun on account of the apple tree - but I'd like to add some colour here too.

Both beds are set in bark chips - I dont know if that matters

    any advice -thoughts welcome

Thats a great canvas to work on
It screams Japanese Garden to me.
Under plant the trees with ferns and maple tree. A few large boulders dotted about the area. Put gravel down instead of lawn.

Just my thoughts. Obviously if you have kids you might need a lawn

yes, lawn is underway already - the majority of that is seeded already
