Whats a good android phone to replace an Xperia L1. I was looking at a Samsung with a nano sim but that will not fit the L1 will it?
Maybe 100 -150 euro ish. Don't need a top of the range and camera is not very important.Huawei P Smart 2020 any good?

Thanks. i am looking at he Xperia L4

What does dual sim mean and how does it work. can you be 087 on one and 085 on the other SIM. And do you have to buy credit for both ? can one be used for incoming calls only

The battery is fairly poor in that Xperia.

Dual sim allows you to simultaneously use 2 sims from any networks in the same phone. Both can send/receive calls text etc and you can choose what one you want to use for data. Handy if you have a work sim and your own sim but don't want 2 phones.

If you don't need the 2nd sim slot then just leave it empty.

I think the main reason people get dual sims is for Internet plans and cross border roaming. I couldn't be bothered because one bill for the phone is quite enough.
Also the days of networks being identified by the dialling code are long gone. "Oh Eight three-five-six-seven" doesn't mean anything to shops anymore. You have to specify, Vodafone, Three, Eir, Tesco etc to the person behind the counter before they can print out your credit.

    This too shall pass.

it is but it is a reasonable budget phone

Well I just meant the note 9 I linked to is far better value for money at £159. No point saving €20 and ending up with a phone that won't last a full day.

Just to clarify also your l1 has a nano SIM which is the standard size all modern phones take.

What do you mean? You came here for advice and suggestions but you've shot down everything everyone has suggested. Seems like you have your mind made up already.
no i agreed with whoever said L4. you shot that down. the battery seems to be the best of the one you suggest according to one review i read.,
    https://www.techradar.com/reviews/xiaomi-redmi-note-9-review
and the camera, i missed that but i have a camera but it says mediocre performance. and i know the L4 is not top of the range i prefer it to the redmi

i read reviews about the L4 i know the limits and it seems ok for me

Everyone has a preference, I just pointed out something that in my opinion is better value, has better battery and better camera, I thought that was the point of this thread. You're right, neither are flagships but that doesn't mean all midrangers are the same either.

Sounds like what you really want to know is what Sony will replace the Xperia L1.

I'd say it's more likely a non Chinese phone they are looking for, so Sony, Samsung or, if they were still running, HTC.

    This too shall pass.

They were considering Huawei in the OP, so don't know if that's true.

Provided you buy the global version then you won't have any issues. If someone is having problems it probably because they bought the Chinese version which has different network band capabilities.

If you need something tomorrow you could have a look at argos.

    Something like this might suit.

Yes argos have got better over the years with regards sim free phones. The Nokia's and moto ranges would be the ones I'd be looking at.

Yes it takes nano sim, the same as your L1. Basically all phones these days take nano sim.

does sim free mean work on any network? What do you think of the a21.? It gets 8.8 at

    The L4 get 8.4

    Avoid the redmi 9
    And go with the 9s
    It's a better phone

But all the phone makers are bringing out new phones in October so wait if you can I used to recommend
    -edwaybuy.
To buy phones but their prices are 40 euro or more than other sellers

I see honorbuy uses european warehouse but I have not tried them

Sim free just means not locked to any network so it will work with yours. The Samsung Galaxy A range is not bad either. If it was between that and the nokia I'd go with the nokia as the nokia will come with a cleaner version of Android. Samsung while they have improved still don't half know how to load a phone with bloat apps.

I'd try buy something with 4gb ram and 64gb storage minimum. 3gb ram will feel slow these days. And if you are not using cloud storage for anything then you will need a reasonable amount of local storage. 32gb could fill up with apps fairly quickly.
