Qualpex easy crimp system - for re-plumb

Has anyone used the new easy crimp system from Pipelife / Qualpex?

In terms of performance, I'm assuming it is standard enough, works as described.

But for pricing and speed of using it compared to multilayer or Hep20, any comments on it?

I have used the old qualplex on diy stuff and bought rolls of piping,cutter inserts and removable fittings tool.They do say it freeze and not rupture the pipe which copper can do.I a not a plumber but like how easy it is to user.

When you say the old stuff.. you mean pipe and compression fittings?

I am referring to their new system where the fittings are crimp fittings, so no olives or brass fittings needed.

The type of fittings are used widely on Industrial jobs now. Qual pex are usually a decent vrand and would be suprised if they werent as good as the rest. You need a crimping gun though to compress them and they arnt cheap. Probably 800 to 1000 quid. They are also big and bulky and hard to get in tight spaces sometimes. You wouldnt pipe a bath with one. They also dont look very pretty as far as Im concerned and a copper hotpress or boiler room always looks far better than a pile of plastic.

The fittings are also expensive a cupro elbow can be bought fir next to nothing but a crimp elbow is probably 4 or 5 euro.

The qualpex easy crimp only have a hand tool at the moment as far as I know, about €110 + Vat ish for the 1/2" one. Not sure about the 3/4".

A 1/2" 90* elbow is €2.50ish in my supplier I was just told, so doesnt seem too bad.

Then 3/4 hand gun is probably 150 plus vat, very bulky id imagine too. 3/4 elbow probably 3 or 4 euro. Ts, ADAPATORS for motorised valves, taps boilers.

Im not saying its bad stuff just that its a big investment in tools and fittings at the start. If you are just putting a bathroom in your house paying a plumber 600 quid might save you money that buying a load of tools you will use once, fire in the shed then forget they are even there.

Yes think they were more a e5 then when bought.

Tectite fittings are mad money, but they are good. I would not plumb a whole house with them though.

I need to re-pipe 15 rads and install new vented DHW cylinder.

I'm trying to weigh up the costs of doing it my self, but it seems obvious that I should. Cheapest plumber price at the minute is €12K + VAT.
