Cooker hood problem - ducting pipe sizes

    Hi, we have a wall mounted Cooker hood. The ducting pipe is cemented in, so it would be a nightmare to change it.
    This ducting pipe is 135mm in diameter.

    The new Cooker Hood will have a ducting diameter of 150mm.
    Will it be possible to fit the smaller ducting pipe into the bigger part of the new Cooker Hood?

    Or maybe it can be safely taped to fill in the gap? I will be getting a professional to install it.

    You should be able to get a reducer

    If you can at all avoid it, do not reduce the diameter of the outflow as this causes turbulence and backflow rendering the hood inefficient if not ineffective. Should be 150mm all the way out to, and including, the wall-vent.
    Also make sure your fitter uses fire-retardant Aluminium flexi-pipe not that cheap white plastic flexipipe designed for tumble-dryers. Think of all that grease and fat coating the inside of the ducting after a time.
