Paid Motor Tax - Fined for not displaying

Hi,

I paid my motor tax and not sure if I just didn't put the disc in or Shannon didn't send it.

I got a ticket for non-displaying a tax disc.

Is there any point appealing on the grounds that I paid or do you just have to pay up for non display?

Non display of a tax disc is a distinct and separate offence to not having Motor Tax, so yes you should pay the fine here. If you paid but don't have one then a new disc can be issued, usually for a nominal fee.

While the above poster is technically correct, in practice the Garda tend to cancel fixed charge notices for non display of a tax disc when in fact the vehicle was taxed.

You should submit an FCN cancellation request. (See below) You need to enclose evidence that the tax was applied for and that you have paid. There is a good chance it will be cancelled.
