House Insurance - Claims Free Period

Most, if not all, House Insurance Proposal forms ask how long the householder has been claims free. If a claim was made on a policy does the new Claims Free period start the day after a claim was made or the day after the settlement ( payout) was made, which could be months later? TIA

It's the date of the incident, which gave rise to a right to claim
