Remove tap centre.

I have a standard two tap mixer tap on the kitchen sink. The one for the hot water is on its last legs needing excess force to turn off the water. I tried changing the centre but it's refusing to budge. Any tips for getting it out? I really don't fancy crawling around under the sink to replace it.
