When i switch on my phone i get a message, system update ,2.5gig .
    i just click, cancel .
i have about 4 gig storage left on my phone
i dont know if this is an update for android os or just for the phone i use.
i have a huawei phone about 12 months old bought new in an eir shop .
i have android version 9 build no 9.1.0.263.
should i allow the update to go ahead .
i presume its an android security update .
    My phone works fine .
i just use it for browsing the web, playing music, youtube.
    its not a work phone.
Everything on my phone works fine, i can download podcasts at 20meg per second.

Always safer to keep it up to date but it won't stop working if you don't update. The persistent notification might get annoying though.

At that size it is most likely the update to Android 10

Keep in mind if it has not already downloaded it will require at least twice+ the size of the update in free space to install as it will most likely be compressed and need to be decompressed making it larger than its initial download size. Plus it will need temporary working storage to do the upgrade...+
