    Hi Everyone,

I have a landcruiser that is giving a Step Motor fault. The mechanic that done the diagnostics said that the whole turbo will have to be changed. From what I have seen that will cost about €3k. I've found a few places that sell the actuator on its own.

Has anyone done this before or am i better off just doing the turbo now?

    Thanks for any help

I'm guessing that's an older 120 Cruiser - 2004-2005? I'd find it hard to believe that you can't buy a reconiditioned turbo for one of those or have your own overhauled at this stage.

Or go second hand, most of those would have had the actuators changed on them by now

Depending on where you are in the country, there's a turbo company at Kilshane Cross, near Dublin Airport, and they will check out things like this, and repair the faults as appropriate, for a lot less than the figures mentioned above, and depending on what's wrong with the turbo, they can and will offer either a replacement core, or an overhauled unit.

Over the last couple of years, I've taken vehicles in to them, and they've not yet failed to resolve the problems.

And before anyone asks, I have no connection with them other than as a happy customer.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
