Looking to paint some of the PVC around my house. A couple of windows inside and out and a fascia and soffit. Anyone do this, how did it work out?

Any recommendations for people to do it in Dublin? When I googled it they seemed more expensive than I guessed. E.g. €500 for painting a front door.

Generally speaking the cost to respect uPVC is about a third of the cost of replacing them.

Thanks for the recommendation. At a third of the cost, i'd be tempted to just get new windows, with the improved insulation and aesthetic.

We (via professional painter) applied an undercoat and and top coat to our exterior windows 3 years ago and it has worked well so far. I reckon you get about 5 years before you need to paint it again. At a third of the price for spraying this is my preferred option as we can get 10 years from 2 applications and at that stage I have no problem replacing the windows as they have done their time. BTW our windows were fine about 7-9 years old and quite efficient so it seemed a waste to replace for decorative reasons.

That's very interesting. Any issues with the paint (e.g. paint flaking or not sticking). Does it need to any particular type of painter do you think or just any professional painter?

1/3 of the price of spray painting....hmm...that's a ninth of the price of replacement windows which is a big saving.

I think i'll progress with this. Thanks a lot for the tip!!

Hi Sorry I don't browse much here. normal professional painter, but definitely not high end. There is some signs of the old frames in places with wear and chaffing but not much. we have it 3 and will definitely get another 2-3 out of them. unless the greens bring in a deal to replace to triple glazing the double glazing I have is really good and I don't want to just throw it in the bin.

    Hi,

Recently had my UPVC windows painted a slate grey colour. Came out exceptionally well. Very cost effective and look like new windows.
