Flight/trip to New York advice please

We had a family bereavement and my wife desperately wants to go to New York and stay at our son's home in New York for a break. She's willing to stay put at the house in New York.

I've booked her the flights with Aer Lingus for next week and today I was sent a link to look at USA travel rules/restrictions for Covid and it appears to me that they are only allowing entry from Ireland for US citizens or spouses of US citizens.

Can anyone clarify or confirm we are very desperate to know.

Perhaps I should call the US Embassy in Dublin?
