Hey, my mother would like to buy a Nissan Leaf or Toyota Prius for a maximum of €7,000 on DoneDeal etc... Which is the better car (keeping in mind she would like one with a low amount of road tax).

She's also looking for one with Bluetooth enabled Music and more technology in general.

How far does she venture? A 7k Leaf will have sub 100km range in reality , unless she’s used to driving around gambling with her fuel light on for a few days .

    What do you mean?

I mean , the range in a 7 k Leaf is realistically 100km if you leave ANY sort of buffer to empty.

    What do you mean?

You do realize the Leaf is a full electric car with a battery and limited range until plugged in and charged again?

So, I don't get it. Let's say I want to drive from Drogheda to Galway. How long would it take in a car like this?

What's the distance to Galway from Drogheda?
If you drive slowly no heating on, you might get 80km you might get 110km, who knows?
You might have to stop and charge the car, in fact you probably will, who knows?

    Google is your friend

You have picked 2 different types cars with regards how they are powered, as in the Prius is hybrid (petrol car with a battery pack) and the Leaf is an completely electric car. The Prius will need to be filled with petrol to run and the Leaf will more than likely need home charging unless your close to a charger.

Im guessing shes more drawn to these 2 cars as she views them similiar size wise, 2 reasonable size family hatchbacks.
You will need to figure what what see wants and type of driving/mileage she covers.
