    Hello,

I have a 1998 Felicia 1.6 Glxi (has 1.6 Mark 4 Golf engine) has an Ignition Problem. Key wouldn't turn was told by The AA that I needed a new Ignition Barrel. I had a mechanic look at it, he reckons it's the Ignition switch. Was just wondering if we replace the ignition switch with a new switch will I still be able to use my existing keys? Or will I have to get new keys cut? There are plenty of ignition switches available on eBay. Parts on eBay are spurious but this seller says Ignition Switch is "Universal Type".

I would be grateful if anyone could advise regarding being able to use my original keys if ignition switch is changed. Mechanic is unfamiliar with the car, have also asked ebay seller, but no reply yet. Switch seems to apply to different Skoda models from late 1980's to late 90's. Thanks. Here is a link to part on eBay.

Well I can't speak to your Felicia, but when I changed the switch on my Passat it was a little bit of diassembly required but no need for change of keys - the barrel etc was fine on mine. And the switch fits on to the end of the barrel mechanism.
Mine wouldn't turn past ignition on, so no starter action. I had a few metres between cars so was able to roll it back and forward on my own with ignition on to get it to start. New electrical switch all grand.

Just one question, does the key normally turn fine, and it's not hanging out of the lock or anything?
