I have an Argos credit note burning a hole in my pocket and have an urge to replace my 1GB backup drive with something a bit bigger. ( I have two windows laptops that need backing up now and then )

    Would

be a reasonable yoke to get ?

If not, what would y'all suggest ?

    not a bad option.

I would suggest to avoid Western Digital as I've had a number of usb drives from them fail and their customer service is terrible / verging on fraudulent.

but also be aware that these things can and do fail - if you are really storing valuable data I would back it up twice to two separate drives or cloud etc.

or at least with the most valuable files.
