Closing a chimney temporarily

I have a fireplace & I want to close the chimney temporarily as there is a terrible draught coming down. I don't want to seal it up with blocks. Is there anything I can buy that will help get rid of the draught.

Buy a chimney balloon (no idea where you get them, though)

Fill a plastic sack with polystyrene bits from packaging and stuff it up the chimney from the bottom.

Or stuff a pillow up the chimney.

In all three cases, do NOT forget what you've stuffed up the chimney when you next decide you want to light the fire!

I thought 28 smackers was expensive for what is essentially a plastic

The balloons are ****e. The lose air all the time. I stuffed mine with a plug made from EPS the filled the whole thing from the roof with beaded EPS. Same stuff goes on cavity wall fills. Then put a C chimney cap on the top.

Job done. If ever need to remove it pull the plug and grab the hoovee
