    I have a fireplace & I want to close the chimney temporarily as there is a terrible draught coming down. I don't want to seal it up with blocks. Is there anything I can buy that will help get rid of the draught.

    Buy a chimney balloon (no idea where you get them, though)

    Fill a plastic sack with polystyrene bits from packaging and stuff it up the chimney from the bottom.

    Or stuff a pillow up the chimney.

    In all three cases, do NOT forget what you've stuffed up the chimney when you next decide you want to light the fire!

    I thought 28 smackers was expensive for what is essentially a plastic
    bag, but the I see you get a house thrown in;

    The balloons are ****e. The lose air all the time. I stuffed mine with a plug made from EPS the filled the whole thing from the roof with beaded EPS. Same stuff goes on cavity wall fills. Then put a C chimney cap on the top.

    Job done. If ever need to remove it pull the plug and grab the hoovee

    You can stuff rockwool into the bottom of the flue. This will keep the heat in but still allow some air to get through to stop moisture building up.

    put a lead cap on the top of the flue and pack the bottom with rockwool.
