Spat on by homeless

I was spat on by a homeless' person when I passed him.

This guy sits in front of the Centra every time I go outside, holding a cup - doing it as a day job. It looks more like this is a meth/heroin addict refusing to get reformed. Gullible people giving him money just fuel his addiction.

What will happen if I complain to the council? Nothing? Can the Garda not clean up the streets?

It's a section 2 assault. If you feel strongly about it report it.

Give him crap. I moved on a career beggar outside a centra and he pulled a pen knife on me. I watched as the gardai bounced off him half an hour later.

Maybe consider how fortunate you are that your circumstances in life aren't so intolerable that you need to rely on substances to escape your reality.

Why did this person spit at you?

Ask him. Because I didn't give him money?

I don't know to be honest, I wasn't there, this is your testament?

What was your interaction with the person? Was there any provocation?

    What actually happened?

There was no interaction other than the guy spitting.

He intentionally sits between the Centra doors and a public rubbish bin so that everyone needs to pass him.

I was avoiding eye contact if you want to consider that provocation.

Get the spitting scumbag what he deserves, inform the garda. They'd lose the head if he spat on them so should treat your complaint seriously. Can't tolerate wasters like this sitting on the ground begging for drug money but when they attack people they deserve the consequences.

Should have kicked him in the teeth!

I suggest you contact your local Gardaí and make a full statement.

Spitting is a form of assault.

I am baffled as to why you were spat at however. I walk by people all day and never manage to be spat upon.

There's a hint of victim blaming from this, as well as your other posts.

It'd be great if no one ever found themselves in an uncomfortable, provocative or dangerous situation. It doesn't alway pan out like that.

These beggars are a plague. My local Centra has one and my wife doesn't like passing him as she feels uneasy. It has to be hurting the businesses. If he spat at me, I would act there and then.

At the very least, you could attempt to communicate with him. Tenfold. Make a real effort.
I think a bucket of water over him would kick things off nicely. A sort of 'I hear you, I embrace your attempt to interact with me".
Just the tonic for his autonomic system. He'd likely thank you for it. Clearly liquid is his medium of reaching out. I acknowledge that choice.

Personally I would make a statement to the guards and emphasis that I want this guy behind bars

Throw piss on him, just because someone is trying to get money for nothing does not mean they are homeless or indeed innocent individuals- more often than not, in Ireland anyway, it’s the opposite

If ever a situation called for a kick to the face it is one where you were spat at

Ah now you can't be advocating violence in a Legal Discussion forum. Simply shower him with like kindnesses. P*ss or s bucket of water. Seems to be his thing?

I think because cops don't bother them they are getting more bold.

why did he specifically spit on you though there must be more to this, I’d face kick by the way no point getting the guards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 622 ✭✭✭sheepsh4gger

You're asking me to tell me what went on in his head? The guy is a drug addict.

Because I didn't give him money?
    Because I avoided eye contact?
Because he was jealous of my groceries?

Report him, spitting is worse than a slap. Especially now with the covid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,090 ✭✭✭✭elperello

    This.

Nobody has the right to spit on another person.

Doesn't matter if they have a hard life, having a bad day, had a drink or three etc. etc.

Report it and let the people whose job it is deal with it.

Is that how you would feel if some stranger spat on you?
Do you honestly not see where the OP is coming from at all, or is it more important to signal your virtue

Well you need to to inform the Gardai and offer to identify him as well. You know where he is everyday after all.
It is assault and all the more serious during Covid.
He no doubt intimidates older customers of the store.

Yes, he got me. He spat in my hair. There wasn't anyone else to aim for.

I am sure the poster walks by many people as well and never gets spat on

This is one man that he encounters that spat.
