Noticed my Fog light lens and bulb smashed this morning. I fitted 5800k ice white bulbs last weekend, would it be possible that they caused it to smash, mabye from extra heat?

could be coincidence that something hit it on the road. same as never getting a flat tyre when it's nearly bald it's only when its brand new

typical that it has to happen the week of the NCT

Just how many times in the last week have you needed to use fog lights?

Wake me up when it's all over.

    Twice

The 5800k must have made it like daylight?

I would say the standard halogen bulb is probably better in the fog. The new bulbs are rated at 5800 but to be honest they probably closer to 5000k, just give a better look.

Fog lights were on? We haven't had any fog though.... Please op don't drive with them on.

he turned them on twice, once to check the new bulb and once after the bulb broke to see if the other one was still working. OP would never drive around with fogs on and those threads talking about fog lights are banned!!!!!!!!

Can you give me access to your nationwide fog data? You seem very sure with a comment like that. I must have been dreaming of the fog in the Midlands this week.

Is this gonna turn into a mist/fog debate?

in other news weather can be different within a few miles

Fog and mist are both created by water droplets, differing only in their overall locations and density. Fog is a cloud that reaches ground level, even if that "ground" is a hill or mountaintop. Mist forms wherever water droplets are suspended in the air by temperature inversion, volcanic activity, or changes in humidity. Fog is denser than mist and tends to last longer. In terms of visibility, fog reduces it to less than one kilometer (0.6 miles), while mist can reduce visibility to between 1 and 2 kilometers (0.6 - 1.2 miles).

    For all the pedants...

There was fog here last saturday morning and one of the mornings during the week, I don't leave them on unless necessary. However, I was driving around backroads with them on last night showing a friend the new bulbs.

Being a farmer, I hear enough people talking about weather, please not here too.. I believe there's a forum for that :). Anyways back to the original question, would a fault in a 5800k halogen bulb be capable of smashing both the bulb and the lens?
I'd like to replace it with another 5800 bulb but if this will happen again, I'll install the originals no problem. Thanks

Does anyone know if the 2019 Ford KA+ thing uses it's front foglights as day time running lights?

My neighbour has one and always has them on, she even asked if I could turn them off, and there was no way of turning them off even by the fog light switch.

Any other Ka+ I see and they are always on even in sunlight.

They are only DRL's in the location where a foglight would be. They only have a 21w bulb in them the same as a tail light. They aren't the same intensity as a H1 or H3 fog bulb.
