Painting Inner Porch Door/From Gloss to Matt finish

    Hi guys.

Whats the best approach to change a high gloss inner porch door with glass inserts from hi-gloss to a washable matt or egg shell finish?

(Same applies to interior skirting and glossed bannisters).

The wood is all in good shape and the gloss paint has gone yellow with age.

Obviously I'll be sanding/cleaning/filling, but what are the best paints to use, and is primer needed if using eggshell water based?

Or should oil based egg shell be used? Or something completely different?

    Thanks

PS: Can water based or oil based eggshell finish be applied to gloss without primer or undercoat?

Fleetwood Bloxx It, good sand and clean. Topcoat x 2 of a good water based eggshells ( would recommend Helmi 10 )

  • Great stuff DG! The Bloxx It sounds just the job. Thanks.:)

The old solvent based gloss paint used to go yellow with age-thee manufacturers seem to have resolved this issue with new water based paints-however, the matt finish will not stand up to abuse as well as a gloss finish.
