Auris Vs Civic

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the feedback on the previous post! But I want to go back to petrol. I’ve been looking at the facelift (2011/12) Auris, mk2 I believe and the 1.3 I-Vtec civic around the same era, 2010/11. I know both of these are great cars and I used to have a 03 Corolla which was great. I also noticed I could get the Astra 2013/14 in the budget but have heard they’re woefully underpowered and have a ‘chocolate’ gearbox so best to avoid?

I’m wondering out of these cars is there any better than the other aside from looks/ preference? I’ve also been looking at going up North to look at cars as the savings especially for the Auris is quite large.

So, any tips/ advice/ opinions? Also, any recommendations for garages to look at up North or any to avoid? I would really appreciate this as I’ve never been up to look. Thanks in advance!

    Side-note, this is the Astra I spotted - https://www.trustford.co.uk/used-car-details/used-vauxhall-astra/id-1890/?SSPostcode=BT1

But primarily focused on the Auris/ Civic.

Honda and Toyota are equally superb manufacturers, both as reliable as each other ime.
Theres better space in the civic. The rear seats fold UP (as well as down) which is genius.
If the Auris was a hybrid I would go for that, otherwise it would be up to your own preference of looks, or the need for extra space.
    Just my opinion.

That’s brilliant. Thank you so much for the response.

The Auris of that age is lovely, quiet, albeit vanilla. It won't be as economical as your diesel, so lets get that out of the way right now.

Can't fault a Honda of that age either.

    Both good cars.

If looking at Hybird Auris, this is an old thread, but might inform you: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=82907263

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
