Terrible main dealer service

We just collected a virtually new (2019) Skoda Superb from a Ford main dealer. We know the car was imported from the UK and have details of original registration number and service/sales centre in the UK. One receipt gives me a clue to it being checked post sale to the first owner.
So after a test drive and inspection we hand over a sum of money and go to collect the car. It has been valeted and "checked".

I ask if we can have a receipt for the money handed over. We get a written receipt as you would expect from the green grocer - it was certainly not a bill of sale.
I then ask for a copy of the sales contract and warranty details which the guy had in his hand. So that was copied and handed over. It was incorrect in the date of first registration and the speedo reading was 0. There was a dealer warranty of 6 months "engine /gearbox" whatever that means.
There was only one key so we asked for another key. The were very reluctant to provide this and said we had to go back and have it programmed.

I checked the car and it was unmarked and spotless. I doubt anyone had sat in the back ever.
I have decided to contact the UK distributor to follow up on service record as clearly this outfit were not up to the job.
    1. When do I do the next service to comply with current manufacturers warranty? This may be moot if the import was not done by Skoda approved dealer.

    2. When was the last oil change?
    3. When does the cambelt need changing or has it been done?
    4. How do we access the service history?

The VIN number provides no information online so this data will have to come from the dealer.

I don't normally buy "new" cars so this is a real eye opener as we need to keep the value up in case we want to sell it later.

What does the actual odometer read? If it's virtualy new it should be low. Go by that.

Has that been tampered with? If so God knows the actual mileage. If not, you're fine.

But, you didn't buy a car from a skoda main dealer obviously. You still should have received proper paperwork/receipt.

Doesn't look like you bought from a main dealer, it looks like you bought from a salesman doing one on the side. You should have got proper paperwork and everything filled in accurately. Definitely you should have got 2 keys, yes they have to be programmed if you get a replacement, and these keys are very costly. Car comes with two keys as standard and receiving only one is a big sign of a stolen car on the 2nd hand market.

    1. It’ll tell you.
    2. Probably never if it’s so new.
    3. Does it not have a chain?
    4. Through your local Skoda main dealer.

PS it’s still under manufacturer warranty, a 6 month Ford engine and gearbox is irrelevant.

When was the car imported to Ireland?

Bare in mind a Skoda's have a 3year warranty but the third year is from the distributor, not the manufacturer. So your Skoda's warranty in ROI is the remainder of two years from the date it was first registered in the UK.

    1. Those cars are to serviced every 12 months or 10k miles or every 24 months or 20k miles, depending what interval the car is set to. You can check the interval the car is set to in the infotainment screen and you can change it at every service.

    2. As above, if the car is a 2019 and on 20k mile 24 month intervals it may never have had a service or oil change yet.

    3. Diesels are due a belt every 210k kms.

    4. Skodas havn't come with service books since i think 2015. Services are recorded through VW groups online system ELSA. Any dealer can view and update the history. Non VAG group dealers and independents can pay a subscription to contribute to the records but few, if any do, which means a lot of newer cars outside the dealer network can end up like yours, with no history.

Does sound like someone is making a sack of this though.

Last time I bought from a main dealer ( a long while back) I got a big feck off SIMI branded document as the receipt, if I recall I got a copy, they got a copy and then I think there was another for thr finance company if you were using one.

Car ,unusually, should have 3 keys.

Email Skoda Ireland, or call into your local Skoda dealer if you want any service history. They will probably want vin number and reg.

Don’t think they have 3 keys.

No, a new Skoda will have just two.

Sorry chaps I have not bought a "new" car since I had company cars so this is all new to me.
Car was imported "recently" as Irish registration was done last week. I await a document to prove ownership.
I contacted UK supplier and seems service was done at 15,000 miles (1 year) and I will get a copy receipt.
The next service is 2 years from then or 20,000. It's on 30,000 km at the moment.
It does have a DSG 7 speed box. Oil change noted thanks
I read the Skoda warranty and it states imports via non Skoda dealer invalidates it.??
How did it end up in Kerry? I will never know I guess.
Had a good look round and it seems mint. A couple of very minor marks on rear bumper which will T cut out.
A few days in Bantry will sort that out if past experience is anything to go by though.

The oil change at 60k for the DSG is for the 6 speed. I don’t believe there’s an equivalent requirement for the 7 speed.

If it's got keyless it should have 3 keys. Mine had 3 keys when new, two fancy and one normal flick key.
