Maybe look in French Guiana which AIUI is the furthest region that is also completely integrated into the EU?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Guiana

"Fully integrated in the French central state in the 21st century, French Guiana is a part of the European Union, and its official currency is the euro."

Tricky to do a road trip!

    Reunion (east of Madagascar)

Think the French also has a territory in the West Indies.

    That rules out Belfast then.

The point of the journey is the road trip not the destination.

Yes think you have it, looking at it this morning on a proper map and not Google Maps it looks to be Cyprus and specifically slightly south east of Ayia Napa to the lighthouse at Cape Greco, lovely place to end a trip :D

    Found this website www.freemaptools.com/how-far-is-it-between.htm...
Gives Ayia Napa as 2318 miles
Gives Karlebotn, Norway (Norway, can't get Nuergam) as 1583 miles

Lesson of the day, don't use the side of a pen to measure distances on Google Maps :pac:

I think you can measure point to point on desktop Google Maps anyway.

My brother in law always wanted to drive across the USA. He finally got it organised but was sick of it after 3 days. Miles and miles of nothing.

Europe should be more diverse and more interesting.

Did he do the interstate or back roads? If you want to get somewhere fast take a motorway, if you want to enjoy the journey don't take a motorway.

Finland is great, & highly recommended during summer.
Just don't go between the end of October & the end of April!

Could be a great road trip, go all the way to Tallinn & ferry over to Helsinki, or go to Germany then ferry to Sweden & drive from there.

He went the wrong route so

Driving across southern USA is quite interesting
Also a route north-south through the Rockies is also worth doing taking in Yellowstone and all those national parks

Don't think so. The closest part of Cyprus is further than the furthest part of Finland.

If you're doing it non-scientifically by just looking at a map, you need to be careful as the scaling increases as you move north due to the Earth being a sphere. Essentially, places closer to the equator will look smaller and closer than they actually are.

Rezovo in Bulgaria. 2832km(1755miles) as the crow flies Or 3575km (2221miles) by road.

Unless your James Bond you can't drive all the way to Cyprus. So while it might be further away you spend a lot of it on a ferry, you can drive to Finland once on the continent.

But you cannot drive to Finland without either going on a ferry or going out of the EU, & driving through Russia to get there would not be straightforward

I’d have a look at a map if I were you, specifically the region around Copenhagen and Malmö.

PS we live on an island ;-)

Ah true, you can go on the bridge.
No need to be mean though
