Homicidal Teen with desire to rape to be released

This seems very strange that if she is such a danger and has made threats to kill and rape there is no legal basis for keeping her locked even though she is on bail. Surely if your on bail and you make these threats your bail has to be revoked !!

As I understand it she's been in care and now she's 18 she's free to go.

jesus that's a difficult read and a very unusual case i would have thought, but if she's already on sexual assault charges it seems very strange to be released. It's hard to know what to do in cases like this if the girl is clearly mentally disturbed.

She was in a facility for troubled kids and Tulsa want her out too because they are afraid they could lose vital funding for the facility and they think she's a risk to the other teens in the facility as well,

I believe she has a thing for girls younger than her

There is no release form, she can leave when she's 18. They tried to incarcerate her, but cannot do so under existing legislation. So no doctor can sign her in as she hasn't actually done anything yet.

The gap in legislation needs to be sorted out.

Efforts by Tusla to resolve the 18-year-old's future have been the subject of several High Court hearings over the past year. The case has highlighted significant gaps in Irish mental-health legislation.

Her particular disorder does not qualify her for detention under the Mental Health Act.

Psychiatric assessments conducted last year suggested that she met the criteria to be declared a ward of court, which would have allowed her to be detained and receive treatment in a secure facility abroad.

However, a wardship petition brought by Tusla had to be abandoned this month after recent assessments found she had capacity to make decisions. This meant that she no longer met the criteria.

Brilliant another nut allowed out that will kill or rape and yet their life is more important then those that are decent human beings and just want to get on in life....
