I'm trying to trace a problem with the above where is seems to be missing but apart from just not being right is hard to quantify. Starts OK but randomly seems to stutter particularly at high speed.

Its only just had the timing belt done (no problems before that) and it was mentioned that plug leads often caused issues on that particular engine after they have been disconnected (rocker cover needs removing to do timing belt) so I wondered if anyone else had heard that or had some experience of same?

A basic ODBC reader shows no stored faults?

I'll see if I can get a set of leads in the local Motor Factors tomorrow and if they don't have them I'll get some from Micks Garage. Not really bothered about replacing them but would like to know what the problem is? Hmmm if I'm doing the leads I might as well replace the plugs while I'm at it.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Yeah it's very popular on that same engine in the Focus too. Juddering while accelerating being the most popular complaint, usually no fault codes stored. They seem very prone to perishing and cracking.

Be a nice job to replace the plugs at the same time as the leads.

Thanks thats good to know. It was the no fault codes stored that made me wonder. Anyway new leads and a set of plugs asap.

Any point in going for the Iridium plugs in that engine that some of the suppliers have?

I should really answer that myself I as always used them in VW's and they lasted almost for ever.
