Lexus RX-450h reverse lights coming on briefly

    Hi,

Recently purchased a 2011 RX-450h auto. When changing from Park to Drive, the reverse lights come on for a split second - the gear handle crosses Reverse & Neutral on its way to Park, and it's when crossing over Reverse that the lights come on. Does anyone know if this is normal, wouldn't have thought so?

    Thanks in advance!
    Loire.

The oldies amongst us - or, the Petrolati © :) - will also remember one unique other vehicle with a manual gearbox that also does this.

Ladies & Gents, I give you....... Saab (99/900 et al) :

Remember the ignition key between the seats locks the gearlever.....in reverse. Key in, ign on (reverse lights), take gear lever out of reverse into neutral. So you always get a 'flash' of the reversing lights on start up.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I got codded with that about 15 years ago, was asked to move the new Saab 9-5 the Boss had.. I parked it elsewhere and it took me an indecent amount of time to figure out it had to be put in reverse before the key would release from the ignition barrell. I thought I had broken it
