Sounds lovely have a great time.

We had a scare yesterday as well. After being careful the last couple of weeks, avoiding crowds etc, OH got a text that the a friend who we are sharing the summer camp run with has tested positive. Did a test on Elf1 last night and thankfully came back negative.

Going to go into semi lockdown till we get on go now!

    Sounds like heaven to me!

Keep testing every few days, i had been testing because the young lad was positive & was negative for a few days, but it caught up with me, so leave it for 2-3 days & check again just to be sure. Its such a pain to have to keep checking but thats the world we live in now.

    Morning all

Nice, bright and warm start here. Hopefully will be a few decent days of weather.

Still only Thursday, this week is dragging a bit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,479 ✭✭✭✭DvB

Feels quite warm here in my home office, have had to open the window already, though as its West facing i suspect once the sun moves further East it'll cool down a little.

In fairness the few days before you head away on holidays always drags its feet, I'm off next week myself and despite being up to my tonsils with work this is the first week in a while that seems to be dragging a tad. The gas thing is, from the minute I turn off the PC to turning it back on Tuesday week will probably go in the blink of an eye!!

    Morning all

    Happy Friday.

Last day of work for two weeks :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,479 ✭✭✭✭DvB

    Enjoy the break!

Was meant to be off for a little over a week myself from today but workload means I've had to shorten that & work over the weekend & go into the office on Monday to set up cover for what needs to be issued in the time I'm off. Its a pain tbh but I simply cant risk all the work of the last 6 months being spoiled by delays during a very important/sensitive time of this project.

    Cheers.

That's a bit annoying however I can understand not want to waste the hard work done so far. Hopefully you can make up with some time off later in the year.

Happy Friday Everyone, don't want to jinx it but forecast is good 🤞🤞

    Happy Friday all!

Hope everyone's well and looking forward to the weekend 😀

It's our wedding anniversary today so went for a nice breakfast and played with little man and our dog out the back so it's been a nice chilled morning here.

Planning a nap on the couch now...I like to lead a very exciting life 🤣🤣🤣

    Advice for ye

Do not put any posts on Redit looking for tickets

Got flooded with scam messages, paid someone €50 on PayPal but thankfully paid them through 'goods and services' so can get it back. Bit fishy that they wanted me to pay through 'family and friends'

Some of the 'Ticketmaster Receipts' were laughable

Yeah my card is after been skimmed and I suspect from my dealings it was the cause

All good but banks really make a huge deal of thing. Trying to get IDs and everything is irritating

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,643 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

Would you not just freeze and reorder a new card on your app?

Ugh, disappointing day, weather-wise. Not one bit of sunshine all day!! ☁️

I got some gardening and strimming done, tidied up the front garden and cleared out the shed a bit.

Hopefully tomorrow will be an ice cream and relax day. 🤞😁

Today was an amazing day here in Cork - vivid blue skies and the sun was belting down. I'd say lots of people with sunburn tonight. Went to my regular beach for a swim and it was heaving with people, looked like a busy beach in Spain. Lot's more of this over the coming week hopefully.

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,643 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

I suspected that the south of the country had a good day alright.

Somehow the fact that it was nice in Cork makes things worse. 😂😂

Warm muggy night here in Dublin, wake up open the curtains and a solid grey sky again... think our summer will be warm and grey unfortunately.

Was down in my parents house yesterday and they got to meet their first great grandchild. My brothers daughter had a baby boy last week and she called in with him when we were there.

Special days like this are what it's all about, we are getting together properly next week for a family bbq so hopefully the weather won't be too bad.

Had a nice few hours out in Howth yesterday.

Heading out to Dun Laoghaire with the dog in a min & off to the Poitin Still for Sunday Carvary later. Have to do a few hours of work later so this will be good for the old stress levels

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,643 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

Oh, have a lovely time, @gidget! A nice day for Dun Laoghaire, although most days are since it's such a nice spot. 🙂

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 27,643 Mod ✭✭✭✭Posy

Aaah, that's great. Days like that have been sorely missed over the last couple of years!

Finally got the sun today in north Dublin! I'm glad now I got all my chores done yesterday. 😂 ☀️

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

    Sounds like great days @BK5 & @gidget

Just sitting in the back having a beer, just finished BBQ. Going to have a couple more and ease myself into the holiday.

Best day of the year weather wise here.

Ah was lovely out there 🙂, traffic heading out in the direction of Bray was at standstill on the M50 though, was standing on the beach beside the Dart line & could see the Dart was packed as well heading out there too. Everyone making the most of the heatwave while we have it anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,479 ✭✭✭✭DvB

Went for a lovely walk with the family in St. Catherines park, then home, set up the blow up pool for the kids and sparked up the barbie. Had a couple of beers and chilled while the kids splashed around, easily the best day of the year weather wise.

Think we all had the same idea yesterday. We had a bit of grub then made a few strawberry daiquiris and sat in the back garden for the afternoon and evening . Wish we could do stuff like that more often in the summer.

    Morning all

Good to hear all took advantage of the good weather.

Overcast but very muggy here this morning.

Could be last post for a bit as heading off later. Might try to get online while away however might also put phone in the bag and only check for emergencies.

Morning all! Hope everyone's keeping well and enjoying the weather!

We're about to spend the morning out the back as we're getting new blinds fitted this morning so need to be out of the house for a bit. Nesting has well and truly kicked in!! Only 3/4 weeks to go till baby arrives so trying to get a few bits and pieces done before then🙂

Hope some of you have nice plans for the weekend...I'll be staying in the shade 🤣🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,131 ✭✭✭pigtail33

    Afternoon everyone.

It's so nice to finally have some nice, warm, dry weather. It has been so hit and miss up until now. I'm glad I'm in the East of the country though, so it looks like we'll escape the 30° temps this weekend.

You'd miss TRS30 around and his daily check-ins!!

Hope the nesting is going well jellybear, and that you have a fan or air-con ready for the weekend.

    some dose of a week

Got a call last week from 'AIB' saying my card has been scammed and that they need to do this and that. Me thinking it was genuine gave in and moved my funds to another account and forwarded them on under the assumption that they will be 'minded' till i get my new pack/card sent out. Rang the bank yesterday for an update and they had no recognition of the transaction. So all my bank account wiped out by scammers pretending to be from AIB. There gone so advanced now they can mask official numbers now (You ring the number and its officially the AIB line). Thinking back now that phone call last weekend was so fishy, line was terrible, when i was on hold there was no music and they knew my PPS number which the bank said they never asked for

Thankfully there is a god and i got my funds back. Never so nervous about anything. Learnt my lesson and will not be answering phone calls or emails from any bank unless fully known its official

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,896 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Sorry to hear that @PTH2009 and glad that you got your money back. Scams nowadays are very clever - you literally can't trust anyone. The latest one apparently is one from the HSE advising that you are a close contact. I've no idea how it works but just beware if you get a message from them. On a whole other note, I'm flying to London on Tuesday so seriously hoping the weather cools down by then.

You definitely can't - although the AIB, Bank of Ireland and PTSB scams, as well as the AnPost one are pretty well known now, so fingers crossed they will catch less people.

They have been able to clone phone numbers for a few years now, so that is never a guarantee that a call is genuine either, sadly.

Any doubts, end the call and phone them back on a number you have obtained yourself.

Bought some nice light culottes and a pair of shorts and a few summer bits today on the way into work. I've stocked up on ice creams and prosecco, and planning to order in tomorrow so won't have to cook.

I'm wrecked and need an early night tonight, but then bring on the sunny weekend! Can't wait. ☺️☺️

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭BK5

Hope everyone is getting to relax and enjoy the good weather this weekend. We set up a telly in the back garden last night and the kids watched a few things, it was the first ever time I watched an episode of Love Island.

We're all going to my sisters house today for a family get together so happy days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,896 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Sounds like a lovely day @BK5 - enjoy 😀. We're out in the garden getting ready to have a bbq - this is just like being on holidays.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,238 ✭✭✭jellybear

I'm gonna be the one to say it...it's too hot 🤣 38 weeks pregnant and struggling! Hubby's gone to collect dominos....can't be dealing with cooking! Hope everyone's been enjoying the good weather and any BBQs they're having...save me a nice chicken burger 😆

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,896 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

I hear you Jellybear - i can only imagine how you must be feeling. i don't do the heat too well and like to keep to the shady parts. I think this will only last until Tuesday so hopefully you can keep somewhat cool (and sane) until then. Sticking your feet in a basin of cold water is a good way to cool down too. Enjoy the pizza 😀

Another All Ireland Christmas for Limerick people

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,022 ✭✭✭BK5

I was just thinking, there is less than 2 months to when there will be less than a 100 days to go in the countdown.

I know we all carry the spirit of Christmas in us all year round but when does it "start" for all you, when are we in the Christmas months for you?

Is it from August 1st? September 1st? or a certain date?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,000 ✭✭✭antimatterx

November 1st for me is when it feels real. Sure that darker nights give me the feeling, but once Halloween is over we're definitely there. It helps my tree goes up in the first week or two of November

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,896 ✭✭✭Cork Lass

Usually November 1st for me too - once halloween is out of the way.
