Neighbour’s backgarden fence exceeds 2m

Hi am trying to work out what steps I can take with neighbours exceeding permitted 2m back garden fence that runs parallel to mine (which is 2m high)?
They already tried to remove the cast iron boundary fence but I formally said I did not grant them permission to do so.
Am trying to avoid causing any dispute. Dublin City Council does NOT handle encroachment and boundary disputes.
    Any advice? Many thanks

    This isn't a boundary/encroachment issue, it's a simple planning violation.

Regardless of where the fence is, more than 2m high always requires planning permission.
